Avoid Chaos

Keep your cool, no matter the situation.

  1. Stop the Spiral
    • Negative thoughts multiply…
      1. “Sh**t she hasn’t returned my call,” becomes “But I have to touch base with her!” The boss will fire me if this report is late!”
    • Slam on the mental breaks and reach for a better thought.
      1. Maybe it’s “I’ve handled stressful situations in the past,” or “My coworkers have my back.”
    • Noticing the good within U and around U changes the momentum of your mind and energizes U
  2. Practice the 5-Second Rule
    • During sudden stress, we often feel detached from our physical selves.
    • The fix for this out-of-body experience: Breathing.
      1. Inhale for 5 seconds, hold your breath for 5 seconds, and then exhale for 5 seconds.
    • Almost immediately, your blood pressure will drop, your heart rate will slow down, and U will be able to think more clearly.
  3. Appreciate and Appreciate More
    • U have the power to choose what to focus on, so zero in on what’s going right.
    • Chaotic thoughts and gratitude cannot coexist, so the moment U redirect your focus, the worry will begin to dissolve.
